SCENERY. SOUNDS. FABRIC.
I am here to share some things with you and stuff. Sometimes I’ll share nostalgic jams, fits or threads I like, thoughts and inspiration. I want to show people what I like for a change. For my first blog post, I will be sharing some things with you; visually and sonically. Contacting me to share your excitement is welcomed! Maybe you’ll pick some things out that you like as well. Much Love.
The first time I saw this brand, was on Thundercat, in concert, a couple of years ago. Thundercat had on a pair of Suicoke slides on. If I could dig and find the picture, I would for sure share it. They just look super comfy and that color-way works for me.
Ahh, Kendrick Lamar is bringing that West Coast, got cousins who bang, but you don’t, everyday wear house shoes, with this Nike collaboration. The house shoes you wear to go to the store, kick it on the homie’s balcony, go to the courts and just watch but not play.
I love the color way and I have been wearing Cortez’s since I was in elementary, but they don’t give me enough support now unfortunately. This design, however, might be comfy. You can dress them up or down for a street wear look or with a dress. Go off Kendrick.
Accessories anyone? I never delved into this brand, but I like this design amongst the clothes and accessories that I have seen so far from the SS19 collection. The color and detachable pockets are a cool way to adjust the look and function of the fanny-pack.
Enough of the clothes…can we move onto the sonic part?
AVICO. Art Vision Innovation Creativity Originality.
AVICO, the collective, dropped ‘A8’ to bring some heat for the fall/winter 2018. Here are some songs from A8 that have been on repeat:
All of the songs pretty much bang. Especially “Lightning Bolt”, “Beetlejuice”, and “Avenue”. I LOVE the way “DRUGZ” starts. Lines like, “TWO BATMAN COUPES WITH TWO SCOOPS” and ” Monday to Sunday andale to the money”– are crafted sauce. Ed’s Special sauce from Goodburger. Go ahead and listen:
Now this one right here? Oh this will set the mood. I like to put this on when I wanna get my VSCO cam aesthetic on. My top-tier Black scholar feeling on. Or sometimes I like to lay down and close my eyes and fall into the pulsing synth and bass. Then, I like to listen to and feel the drums ‘dance’. I love panning. It makes the ‘picture’ you’re painting in your mind with the song, much broader and deeper. Shout out to the person that sent me this artist’s music. Jimi Nxir, who also goes (or primarily goes by) James Walker, puts his soothing vocals and backing vocals with the production and they are a perfect match. This song gives me a different sensation every time. Yeah I said that. Le cornball. Anyways, just listen;
Why was I yesterday years old when I found out about this song? Kaytranada and Mary J. Blige went off. We love Mary when she can give us the blues so we can express our heartbreak, but we also love when she has those occasional ‘power up bops’.
This has always been my bop but we’re going to bring this back. Everything about this. The constant stops. My future music studio will look like that. I want to do a separate post for Kelela and Azealia Banks, so I’m going to pass on posting more heat, and just post this for now.
I have a lot more songs to post, but I will just stop right here with this one. Would you like to be BAD bad in about 3 minutes? Listen to this. Now Azealia Banks said something of the sort that the song was removed from music platforms due to contractual issues. Azealia Banks urged the “Kunts” to grab it before it was taken down. Banks made this beat hers and she SHINED. Azealia Banks is a very versatile artist. I found it on Youtube (shhhh).
Here are some more visuals that I like:
If you got through the entire post I really appreciate you, and I hope you enjoyed a sample of what I posted. Music, visuals, and inspiration that I should have been posting very long time ago, that I am posting now, but with a blog, and with more words.
Talk to me.
‘Till next time…
